AIR COMMANDO RUCK MARCH

Hello All,

I am forwarding this email to as many people as I can.  Please read and spread the word to friends, family andFranklin County citizens.  I would like our community to show support to the 16 Air Commandos that will be “Rucking” through our county.  The estimated dates that they will be passing through Franklin County on Highway 98 will be Monday afternoon February 4th and Tuesday morning February 5th.  I will keep you posted if these dates and approximate times change.   For those of you that don’t know, rucking is a term used for ruck marching which is when troops go for a long walk with heavy backpack full survival gear on their backs.  This event will be a relay Rucking with teams of 4 rotating every three hours.  They will not be in the area long as they have 450 miles to cover, but I would encourage everyone to look out for them and show your support with the honk of your horn, a friendly hello, or maybe some bottled water and snacks.  Perhaps some organizations could setup watering stations along the way.  As the time nears I will keep you updated.

These are active duty Air Commandos trying to help families of fallen comrades.  Please support our troops in anyway you can.

3 – 9 February 2013

Dear American Legion Members,
On 3 February, 2013, sixteen Air Commandos will be rucking 450 miles from Hurlburt FieldFL to MacDill AFB in TampaFL.  Additionally, two more commandos will begin their ascent of Mt Kilimanjaro in TanzaniaAfrica. Both events will be conducted in an effort to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and to honor five Air Commandos that were killed in 2012. We’ll be rucking in or near your Legion’s area during this time and ask for your support by helping us get the word out .

Created in 1980, The Special Operations Warrior Foundation has been devoted to providing a college education to every child who has lost a parent serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps during an operational or training mission under the U.S. Special Operations Command. This includes over 70,000 military special operations and support personnel assigned to units throughout the United States and around the world.

The Warrior Foundation is currently committed to providing scholarship grants to more than 900 children of the approximately 800 Special Operations personnel who have given their lives for their country since 1980, including those who died fighting our nation's war against terrorism as part of "Operation Enduring Freedom" inAfghanistan and the Philippines as well as "Operation Iraqi Freedom." Currently, 190 children of fallen special operations warriors have graduated from college.

We ask that you please consider supporting The Special Operations Warrior Foundation and its cause. Whether it’s by helping us get the word out or becoming a sponsor, it will demonstrate your desire to help improve the lives of those special operations military families that have experienced a loss of a loved one. If you would like to, you can securely donate at the following website. You can also contact us if you would like to support in another way. And please don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook.www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/Aircommandoruckclimb/aircommandoruckclimb

Sincerely,

The Air Commando Ruckers
