Expedition Florida 500 will be at Carrabelle Beach on Wednesday for a coastal cleanup
event and to publicize its year-long trek around Florida ’s coastline and inland waterways.
2013
is Florida 's 500th anniversary since Ponce de Leon landed on Florida ’s coastline; in celebration of the
anniversary.
Expedition
Florida 500 is a way to celebrate that
anniversary.
It’s
a combined effort of the group Mother Ocean along with Viva Florida 500, the Florida Department of
State, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and various other
organizations.
Justin
Riney, from the group Mother Ocean, is leading the movement for the entire 365
days.
He
will be in Carrabelle on Wednesday afternoon for a coastal cleanup at Carrabelle Beach from 3 till 5
PM .
The
public are invited to join Riney in the effort and then take part in a Meet and
Greet at 2 Al’s restaurant from 5:30 to 7.
