A Medart area structure fire destroyed a mobile home at 52 Serafino Lane Friday, Jan. 18 at 8:14 p.m., according to Wakulla County Sheriff Charlie Creel.
ImageMindy M. Kaschmitter reported cooking in the kitchen with grease when her juvenile child fell and suffered a minor head injury. Kaschmitter went to her mother’s home next door to have her check on the welfare of the child.
During the time they were tending to the child the grease caught fire and set the mobile home on fire. There was nobody in the home at the time of the blaze as all parties were next door.
The home and all the inside items were a total loss. Damage is being estimated at $125,000 and the American Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to the family. Deputy Gibby Gibson and Detective Matt Helms investigated.
