Florida Highway Patrol names new major to Troop H

The Florida Highway Patrol Troop H has named a new major.

Mark Welch was promoted to major and assigned to lead field operations in the Big Bend area, beginning February 8^th.

Troop H comprises eight counties, including Liberty, Wakulla, and Franklin counties.

Major Welch began his career with the Florida Highway Patrol in 1982 and has served in Fort Pierce and Tampa.

He was promoted to captain in 2008 and became the spokesperson for the Patrol as chief of public affairs.

His most recent job was in in the Office of Professional Compliance.
