Hovercraft company considers making Franklin County home

County officials are trying to lure a company that makes hovercrafts to Franklin County
The county recently submitted a proposal to Enterprise Florida to be considered as the future site of a hovercraft factory.
Franklin County’s Director of Administrative Services, Alan Pierce, said he met recently with the owner of the company and showed him some of the potential sites for the company to set up shop.
Mister Pierce said the owner of the company seemed impressed with the old GreenSteel building at the Carrabelle airport.
The company is a start-up so Mister Pierce said it would probably take time for the company to provide a lot of jobs, but it does have some big contracts including one to build a 42 seat hovercraft for Russia.
The company plans to make a smaller more general market version in the future.
County commissioners say they would be happy to get the company to move here and provide whatever jobs it can.
