On April 18, Historic Apalachicola Main Street along with DB Consulting will undertake an intensive three-day visioning process which will focus on engaging the public through one-on-one interviews, focus groups, a public meeting and a live, electronic survey. DB Consulting founder, Danny Bivins, is a long time friend to Apalachicola as he headed the UGA’s J.W. Fanning Institute Riverway South Project.
Through this public engagement process the community will identify issues to address, prioritize those issues and develop creative solutions. Main Street Apalachicola will then work with citizens and partner organizations to lead a community effort to implement the downtown vision. Tom Morgan, the Main Street Apalachicola Board Chairman shared “We are very excited about the opportunity to gather input from a broad spectrum of individuals and organizations about what they envision for downtown Apalachicola.”
The consultants have over twenty years of experience working with communities like Apalachicola, Chattahoochee and Donaldson, GA, that seek to make their downtowns a vibrant and thriving community center. The consultants pride themselves on gathering input from all stakeholders. The process, says founder Danny Bivins, “ensures that everyone has a seat at the visioning table, which leads to community by-in and long-term, positive results.”
After the three-day community visioning process culminates on April 20th, the community will be invited to attend a town hall. The DB consultants will share the plan for developing designs and images to convey the community input. The Team of consultants will then create an illustrative visioning report containing before and potential after images.
