Franklin county Commission adopts National Volunteer Week proclamation

County commissioners have agreed to help recognize local volunteers.

On Tuesday the board signed a proclamation naming April 21st through the 27th as National Volunteer Week in Franklin County.

The action was taken at the request of Eastpoint resident John Solomon who is working on ways to recognize the people in Franklin county who volunteer their time and talents to help individuals and groups in need.

The proclamation was just a first step in what he hopes will be a bigger push to thank volunteers and he would like local businesses to get involved.

One restaurant has already agreed to provide a 10 percent discount on food to people who are listed to be thanked as community volunteers.

Other groups and businesses that would like to join in the effort to recognize Franklin County’s volunteers should contact John Solomon at jcs_lucas@yahoo.com.
