Oyster harvesting licenses now on sale at old Estuarine research reserve building at Scipio Creek

If you need to buy your oyster harvesting license you now have to go to Apalachicola to get it.

As of Monday the licenses are being sold from the old Apalachicola Estuarine Research Reserve building at 261 Dr. Frederick S. Humphries Street at Scipio Creek.  

The licenses are being sold through June the 28th for 100 dollars for Florida residents and 500 dollars for non-residents.

If you don’t get yours by the June 28th deadline, there is a 500 dollar late fee.

You have to have the license to commercially harvest oysters from the Apalachicola Bay System beginning July 1st.

You have to purchase the license with a check or money order made payable to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

No cash will be accepted.
