Summary:
·         At 8 am Tropical Storm Chantal was located 45 miles North-Northwest of Barbados and is forecast to impact the Leeward Islands throughout the day today.
·         Chantal is still at 50 mph and is forecast to continue to strengthen until reaching the Dominican Republic on Wednesday.
·         Models are still uncertain as to the strength and organization of Tropical storm Chantal after it passes through the Dominican Republic. Current NHC forecast has the storm remaining at tropical storm strength through Sundaymorning in the Atlantic.
·         It is important to note, that while models vary in the intensity and track of the storm, NHC has Chantal at a 54% chance to be a Tropical Storm 5 days out.
·         A turn toward the Northwest is currently forecast for Chantal at the end of the forecast track as models are showing a westward shift in the Atlantic High steering Chantal in this direction.
·         Keep in mind that the eastern part of Florida is still in the 5 day error cone and much of the state is in the 5% chance to experiencing tropical storm force winds over the next 5 days.
·         Air Force Hurricane Hunters are currently investigating Chantal and are set to fly back out later today.
