Local unemployment continues to inch up

Franklin County saw its unemployment inch upward again in July.
Local unemployment rose from 5.4 percent to 5.5 percent; even with the increase Franklin county had the 4th lowest unemployment rate in the state.
303 people were looking for work in Franklin County in July, up from 296 in June.
Gulf County also saw its unemployment rise from 6.9 to 7.1 percent.
434 people were looking for work in Gulf County last month, up from 422 the month before.
In Wakulla County the unemployment rate rose to 6 percent.
In Liberty County there was a jump in unemployment from 6.5 to 6.7 percent.
Overall, the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 7.1 percent between June and July.
