County commissioners have agreed to seek a grant
from the Office of Greenways and Trails to help alleviate some flooding issues
on the popular bike path on St. George Island .
The board agreed to seek a 75 thousand dollar
grant which they hope will allow them to fix some drainage issues along a
portion of the bike path that goes underwater almost every time it rains.
The grant will require the county to kick in about
15 thousand dollars, but District 1 commissioner Pinki Jackel said that money
will come from her portion of the county road paving fund.
Commissioner Jackel said the problem needs to be
fixed and this may be the least expensive way of addressing the flooding issue.
