Speeding on Crooked Rover Road near Carrabelle may soon be a thing of the past.
County commissioners this week agreed to install 4
speed humps on the Crooked River Road .
The action is being taken at the request residents
of St. James Bay.
In fact the residents recently hired an engineer
to do a traffic study on the road which found that traffic moves at about 70
miles an hour on that road.
The engineer recommended installing 4 speed humps
in specific areas in the St. James Bay Golf Course area.
The residents of St. James Bay have even agreed to
pay for ½ the cost of installation.
The total
estimated cost for installation, including warning signs, is just over 11
thousand dollars, so the county and the residents will each pay about $5600
dollars.
