Escaped convicts recaptured in Panama City

Two convicted murderers who escaped from the Franklin Correctional Institution in Carrabelle by using forged release documents have been recaptured.

Charles Walker and Joseph Jenkins, both 34, were arrested Saturday around 6:40 PM at Coconut Grove Motor Inn in Panama City beach.

The arrests were made by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, along with the Bay County Sheriff's Office, Panama City Police Department and the U.S. Marshall's Service Task Force. 

The inmates were taken into custody without incident; They were transported to the Bay County Jail where they will await extradition..

Charles Walker was serving life without the possibility of parole on a 2nd degree murder conviction from Orange County.

He escaped from Franklin Correctional Institution on October 8th.

Joseph Jenkins was serving a life without the possibility of parole on a 1st degree murder conviction from Orange County.

He escaped from Franklin Correctional Institution on September 27th.

Both inmates left the prison after the Department of Corrections received fraudulent release documents from the Clerk of Court in Orange County.
