FWMA has a brief time where are animal intake is slower than usual and we try to focus on refurbishing all the cages and straightening out the property. This is a huge undertaking! The center has been absolutely slammed full this year so the clean up is extensive. I have put together a wish list of items that would help us and volunteers needed.
For outside Maintenance
We need
Outdoor turf carpet to cover pvc perching and cover wood decks so that the birds wont damage their feet.
metal hose nozzles
Scrub brushes Hand Scrub Brush w/ 8-in Plastic Handle
landscape timbers
2 x 6 x 8 PT or longer
2 x 8 x 8 PT or longer
2 x 4 x 8 PT or longer
cement in bags (can be older bags that have already started to harden...we use them as edging to keep the gravel in)
3 heavy duty 20 ft hoses
Several truck loads of bigger lime rock gravel (we have already gone through 2 (dump truck) truck loads of white sand and 1 truck load of small gravel
Volunteers with very strong backs are needed for shoveling out old sand and gravel from cages and replacing it with new. Really have to be in good shape for this one!
Also our medical room that has provided care for thousands of wildlife patients is falling apart. The outside wall is actually rotting right off. Thekitchen counters and cabinets are barely usable any more. Are there any builders out there that could help us? It also needs a new water heater and washer.
Any help that could be given on any of these items or projects would be greatly appreciated.
