Join the Department of Health for food demonstrations at local businesses in October

Americans don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables. According to the United States Department of Agriculture, only 1 in 4 Americans eat the recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables every day.  Adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet plus getting more exercise can reduce your risk of serious health problems like obesity, type-2 diabetes, heart disease and even certain types of cancer.
To help local families adopt a more healthful diet, The Florida Department of Health in Franklin and Gulf counties will host food demonstrations at the Piggly Wiggly in Apalachicola and the Dollar General Market in Port St.Joe, twice a month at each location from October through March. Stop by and learn how to cook more healthful recipes and all participants will get a healthy eating booklet to take home.

For more information contact Talitha Robinson at The Florida Department of Health in Franklin County at (8850) 653-2111 ext 102.

Join the Florida Department of Health in this month’s demonstration at the Piggly Wiggly in Apalachicola on October 23rd and the Dollar General Market in Port St. Joe on and October 29th
