The board had applied in
September for three Florida Recreation Development
Assistance Program grants for work at DW Wilson park in Apalachicola , Kendrick park in Carrabelle and Vrooman Park in Eastpoint.
This week they learned that the
state has trimmed the program so each county is only eligible to apply for two
grants.
The commission decided that DW
Wilson Park and Vrooman park need the most work at this time, and decided to
take Kendrick Park off the list.
The projects the county hopes will
be funded include a soccer field and basketball court for DW Wilson park as
well as some new playground equipment.
The Vrooman park project would
include a
new T-ball field, additional bathrooms and new playground equipment.
Each of the applications can be for up to
200 thousand dollars.
