County approves cameras to stop vandalism at Vrooman Park

County officials are taking steps to prevent future vandalism at Vrooman Park in Eastpoint.

The county commission this week approved the use of surveillance cameras at the park in an effort to catch the people who have been damaging the park.

Parks and Recreation chief Nikki Millender said last weekend someone ran over about 20 feet of fencing.

Parks and Recreation is able to fix the damage with some leftover fencing from a previous project, but Nikki pointed out that this is the third time they have had vandalism problems at Vrooman park in the past year and the costs will start to add up.

County commissioners said that Nikki should do what she needs to do to stop the vandalism including installing surveillance cameras and should also contact the sheriffs department to see if they can increase patrols around the park.
