DOT to hold public hearing on 5-year work plan

Officials from the Florida Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing in Tallahassee on December 3rd to discuss the Department’s tentative five year work program.

The hearing will allow the public to see the projects DOT has scheduled between July 1st, 2014 and June 30, 2019 and possibly make changes to the program.

There are well over 20 projects planned for Franklin County over the next few years ranging from road resurfacing projects to work at the Apalachicola airport.

Some local projects on the list include resurfacing Highway 98 in Apalachicola from 12th street to the Apalachicola Bridge which should happen in 2015.

There is also a resurfacing project for Highway 98 between the Gulf county line and Tilton Road which is planned for 2016.

A number of projects are planned for 2014 including the widening and resurfacing of south Bayshore drive in Eastpoint and Bluff Road in Apalachicola.

DOT also plans to rebuild Oak street in Lanark Village next year.

You can see the full 5 year work plan for any county in Florida at the Department of Transportation website.

The public hearing will be held in the FDOT District office in Chipley and broadcast live to DOT offices in Midway, Milton, Panama City and Ponce De Leon.
