Gulf County lieutenant among first graduating class of Commanders Academy

A Gulf County Sheriff’s lieutenant was one of 30 officers from around the state to graduate as part of the Charter Class of the Florida Sheriffs Institute Commanders Academy in Tallahassee.
Lieutenant Christopher Buchanan of the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office joined representatives of 21 law enforcement agencies in completing the 64 hour course.
The course was developed to prepare mid-level managers for future command responsibilities.
The curriculum included sessions on budgeting and finance, emergency preparedness, discipline and labor relations, jail management, and even working with both traditional and social media.

Gulf County Sheriff’s Mike Harrison said the training will benefit the Sheriff’s Office as it strives to deliver professional law enforcement services to Gulf County.
