Florida saw record tourism in third quarter of 2013

Tourism was up in Florida during the third quarter of the year.

Preliminary estimates released by VISIT FLORIDA show an estimated 22.9 million travelers visited the Sunshine State between July and September.
That’s a 1.7 percent increase from the same period in 2012.

The numbers represent the largest third quarter for visitation in the state’s history.
An estimated 19.5 million domestic visitors came to Florida during the third quarter of 2013, which is about a half percent increase from 2012.

There were about 2.9 million overseas visitors, representing a 10.1 percent increase and over a half million Canadian visitors representing a 2.9 percent increase from the previous year.
And its not all visitors - Nearly 13.6 million Florida residents are estimated to have taken a pleasure trip in the state between July and September.
