Commissioners have adopted a Resolution recognizing November as Pancreatic
Cancer Awareness Month.
The resolution was approved to draw attention to pancreatic
cancer which is currently the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the United
States .
The commission took the action at the request of the
Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, a national organization advocating
for dedicated federal research to advance early diagnostics, better treatments
and increase chances of survival.
Pancreatic cancer will kill an estimated 40 thousand people in the US this year, including nearly 2800 Floridians.
