No Work Planned for State Road 30A
During Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend

Chipley – Construction work on the State Road (S.R.) 30A improvement project will be suspended during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Crews plan to cease operation the afternoon of Wednesday, Nov. 27 and resume work the morning of Monday, Dec. 2. Suspending work will help ease traffic congestion during the busy holiday weekend.

The $13.2 million construction project is resurfacing S.R. 30A between U.S. 98 and S.R. 30E (Cape San Blas Road). Construction crews are also working to improve drainage, widen the travel lanes and build paved shoulders. When the project is complete the roadway will consist of two 12-foot travel lanes with four-foot paved shoulders.

Resurfacing the asphalt pavement, widening the travel lanes and building the paved shoulders will result in smoother and safer travel.

Daytime lane closures will resume for the 6.8 mile segment of S.R. 30A following the holiday weekend. Flagmen and leader-trucks will again be used to direct traffic during lane closures. Drivers should anticipate the potential for travel delays.

Work on the project began in September with conclusion currently scheduled for winter 2015.
