Area non-profits receive grants through findlearngive.org

A number of area non-profits were recently awarded 1000 dollar grants from the Knight Fund & the Ethel and Edwin Ramsey Fund.

The money was awarded through a program called the Big Vote which allowed people to vote on the charities they most wanted to see receive money.

The vote was done between March 3rd and 7th.

The top 10 vote getters received 1000 dollars each.

The Florida Wild Mammal Association received the most votes.

It is located in Wakulla County and rescues and rehabilitates sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in our North Florida region.

Also among the top 10 was Legal services of North Florida which provides legal assistance to low income people in our area.

Big Bend Hospice made the list – it provides health care and companionship to people with life limiting illnesses.

The group helps hundreds of people a year in our area.

The Girl Scout Council of the Florida Panhandle was also chosen to receive a 1000 dollar grant.
