Areas 1622 and 1642 reopen to oyster harvesting on Wednesday

            Two oyster harvesting areas in the Apalachicola bay will reopen to oyster harvesting on Wednesday morning.

Area 1642, which is the conditionally approved Winter East Shellfish Harvest Area and area 1622, which is the Winter West Shellfish Harvest Area will reopen at sunrise.

Area 1622 was closed on February 17^th and 1642 was closed on February the 18^th because of heavy rains and high river levels.

The department of Agriculture says fecal coliform tests show both sites meet the standards to be re-opened to oyster harvesting.
