A Tallahassee man was arrested Friday after a traffic stop in Lanark Village and is now facing numerous drug charges.

of Tallahassee was arrested during a traffic stop after a K-9 unit gave a positive
alert for the odor of narcotics.
Deputies
searched Mister Byrd’s Chevrolet truck and found nearly 32 grams of cocaine as
well as 8 different types of prescription medications including Dilaudid,
Oxycodone, Xanax and Darvocet.
Deputies also
found a set of digital scales in the truck and over 1600 dollars in cash.
Mister Byrd was
taken to the Franklin county jail and now faces charges of trafficking in a controlled
substance for the cocaine as well as 8 counts of possession of a controlled
substance for the prescription medication.
Byrd was the Assistant Superintendent for
maintenance and transportation with the Leon County school district – he
resigned from the position after his arrest.
