Port St. Joe Marina named a "Clean Marina"

The Port St. Joe Marina has been named a Clean Marina by the Florida Department of Environmental protection.

The ceremony was held last Saturday in conjunction with the marina’s Customer Appreciation Day.

The Port St. Joe Marina contains 114 wet slips and 79 dry storage slips.

To become a designated member of the Florida Clean Marina Program, facilities have to meet certain environmental standards such as protecting sensitive habitats, waste management, stormwater control, spill prevention and emergency preparedness.

Port St. Joe Marina is the 276th Clean Marina designated in Florida and is the second facility to be designated in Gulf County.

Other marinas in our area that have achieved the designation include The St. Joseph Peninsula State Park marina, The Moorings at Carrabelle and the Carrabelle Boat Club.

Florida has more than 2,000 marinas - the largest number of marine facilities in the country.
