The Florida State University Coastal & Marine Laboratory will be conducting an intensive two week scientific diver training workshop from August 2nd-1th, 2014.
Introduction to Scientific Diving is designed for the scientist of scientist-in-training who plans to use SCUBA diving as a tool for underwater research. Skills covered include dive planning, emergency management, underwater navigation, survey techniques, and instrument deployment and recovery.
Course objectives are:
1. To develop and apply the attitude, knowledge, skills and judgement required to safely plan and implement a scientific diving project; and
2. To meet national Scientific Diver requirements as defined by the American Academy of Underwater Scientists.
Cost of the course includes all books, materials, and certification cards. PADI advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, CPR/First Aid/ O2 provider certifications are included in the cost of the course.
The deadline for application is July 19, 2014.
