THE SCALLOPS ARE WAITING; THE SEASON HAS BEGUN!
Head to St. Joseph Bay for World-Renowned Scalloping with your Whole Family
WHAT: The 2014 Gulf County scallop season has officially kicked off in the warm and beautiful waters of St Joseph Bay in Gulf County, Florida.
Scallops like the clear blue waters of St. Joseph Bay and their twinkling blue eyes are easy to spot in the plentiful grass beds. Glide peacefully over the water with fins and a snorkel mask or wade easily into the shallow waters by the shore and grab them by hand. By boat, foot or fin, hunting for scallops is an underwater adventure everyone will remember.
Are you a rookie? No problem. All you need is a Florida saltwater fishing license, a mesh bag and a dive flag. Get your license ahead of time online or head to the experts at Bluewater Outriggers. They can give you a license, supplies, the local hot spots and insider scoop. Did you know scallops have one light side and one dark side?
