The
Southeastern Fisheries Association presented Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Commission Capt. Rob Beaton with the “Aylesworth Outstanding
Government Employee Award.”
Beaton, who has worked for the FWC since 1989, currently
supervises four northwest Florida counties, including Franklin and Wakulla, which both have a high level
of commercial fishing activity.
Prior to assuming this role in
2012, he was the coordinator for a variety of marine fisheries topics for the FWC ’s Division of Law
Enforcement.
The Southeastern Fisheries
Association looked at state employees, from all agencies, who came in contact
with the commercial fishing industry over a five-year period.
Beaton was selected for his
exemplary conduct, honesty and effort in seeking fairness for all when it comes
to commercial fishing issues.
