The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a Tallahassee boater
who went missing about 50-miles south of St. Marks over the weekend.
Missing
is George Taylor of who was reportedly sailing his 27-foot Catalina
sailboat from St. Marks to Carrabelle.
The search was
suspended at 11:42 a.m. on Tuesday and covered over 10 thousand
square nautical miles over the course of 60 hours.
The search was
suspended pending further developments.
Mister Taylor was reported overdue by a friend at
4.p.m.Saturday.
The
caller’s last contact with Taylor was Thursday morning via social
media; he reportedly stated his intentions were to be in
Carrabelle Friday evening.
His
boat was found Sunday morning with Taylor’s dog and belongings aboard.
The search
included three 87-foot patrol boats, several response
boats from Coast Guard Station Panama City, aircraft out of Coast Guard
Aviation Training Center in Mobile and Coast Guard Air Station in
Clearwater.
It also included
the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and other local
agencies.
