The Franklin
County Tourist Development Council is sponsoring a New Year’s Eve Vacation
contest featuring a two night beachfront stay on St. George Island, meals and
tickets to visit the two area lighthouses on St. George Island and Carrabelle
Beach.
The getaway promotion is the
first in what the TDC hopes will be a continuing series of events designed to
highlight the area and attract visitors.
The contest will be marketed
mainly through the TDC social media channels but will also get some regional
and national coverage in October as a result of a co-op promotion with Gwinnett
Daily Post and the Taste of Home magazine that is sponsoring a Georgia cooking
event in which the TDC recently traded a separate vacation package in return
for promotional consideration.
TDC chairman Pinki Jackel said “The
TDC is looking at alternative ways to attract positive area attention and
visitors without spending big advertising dollars we don’t have.
She added that “Contests and
promotions that we market through our news-letter database, social media
channels, website and local media partners are a smart use of limited funds.”
