Oyster Cookoff Jan. 16-17The 5th Annual Oyster Cook-Off to benefit the Apalachicola Volunteer Fire Department will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from noon till 5 p.m. There will be a Friday evening (Jan. 16) preview of the oyster-related silent auction items, along with a sampling of the Apalachicola Bay's tasty bivalves from 6-8 pm. The actual cook-off on Saturday will start at 12 noon, Judging and Bands starts at 2 pm. Contestants are encouraged to enter with their favorite recipe. All forms of oysters will be available to taste: raw, steamed, fried. Other food items and refreshments will be available for purchase also. The day's activities will include live music and dancing performances. Watch the video here.

Christmas Celebration Kicks off Nov. 28-29Be in Apalachicola the day after Thanksgiving to enjoy the kickoff to Apalachicola's annual Christmas Celebration. On Friday, Nov. 28, from4-8 p.m. the streets of downtown Apalachicola will be lined with luminaries and filled with holiday spirit. Santa arrives on a shrimp boat, merchants will be open late and carolers will fill the evening with the Christmas spirit. The Historic Raney House is hosting a Festival of Trees both days featuring artist-designed trees available through silent auction and direct purchase. Friday Dec. 12 - Eastpoint- Old-fashioned parade and social with food, music and Santa!
