2014 Hurricane season officially ends without a storm hitting Florida

The 2014 Atlantic hurricane season is now in the books and thankfully it was a pretty inactive season.

The season produced eight named storms, including six hurricanes.

Two of those were major storms.

Only Hurricane Arthur made landfall in the United States this year – that was on July 4th in North Carolina.

It was a Category 2 storm when it touched land.

The National Weather Service expected a relatively slow season - before the season began in June the service predicted seven to 12 named storms, with three to six hurricanes.
