Port St. Joe getting new police chief
The City of Port St. Joe will soon have a new police chief.
The police department said that Matthew Herring will begin work as the new chief of police on January the 1st.
Herring graduated from Port St. Joe High School in 1991.
He earned a degree in criminology from Florida State University.
He worked for 15 years with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and two years with the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office.
Matthew Herring replaces Police Chief David Barnes, who retired in October after 7 years with the Port St. Joe Police.
