Arrest made in Crawfordville stabbing death







The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 36-year-old Tallahassee woman Monday, Jan. 19 in connection with a fatal stabbing of her former husband in Crawfordville, according to Sheriff Charlie Creel.

Christy Lee Peacock faces a premeditated murder charge after stabbing Billy Yon Peacock, Jr., 55, of 31 Henry Forbes Road in Crawfordville in a 3:50 a.m. incident at his home.

WCSO deputies arrived on scene and discovered Christy Peacock near a residence on Dakota Drive in Crawfordville. Covered in blood, she surrendered to deputies without incident. She told deputies that she stabbed the victim in bed while he slept.

Deputies learned that after stabbing the victim, Peacock left the scene on foot and attempted to contact neighbors to contact a relative. The WCSO Dispatch received a 911 call from a neighbor and a 911 call from the victim. Wakulla EMS arrived on scene to assist deputies administer medical assistance but the victim died at on scene of multiple stab wounds to his chest, arms and torso.

A 5-year-old female daughter of the couple was present in the home at the time of the incident but was asleep and unaware of what occurred. She was unharmed and has been turned over to relatives.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the State Attorney’s office also assisted at the scene with Wakulla EMS. Responding for the WCSO were: Deputy Ross Hasty, Lt. Andy Curles, Deputy Vicki Mitchell, Deputy Matt Hedges, Sgt. Matt Helms, Detective Clint Beam, Detective Cole Wells, Deputy Mike Zimba, Sgt. Derek Lawhon, Deputy Ashton Lesane, Lt. Sherrell Morrison and Detective Randy Phillips.

Peacock remains in the Wakulla County Jail pending a first appearance.
