Cold stunned turtles rescued from St. Joe Bay

Freezing temperatures last week forced the rescue of about 10 cold-stunned sea turtles from the St. Joe Bay.

They were the first cold stunned turtle reported for 20145.

The 9 green sea turtles were taken for rehabilitation to Gulf World Marine Park in Panama City Beach.

The turtles will be treated for the effects of the cold temperatures before they are tagged and then released.

Frigid temperatures impact sea turtles by putting them in hypothermic shock; the turtles can catch secondary illnesses if not treated.
