Franklin County Commissioners will be busy on Tuesday

The Franklin County Commission will have a long day Tuesday.
The Commission has a full agenda for their morning meeting and the commission will hold interviews in the afternoon for the county coordinator’s position.
Tomorrow’s regular meeting includes a bid opening to replace the roof on the historic Chapman Building.
The project is needed as the ceiling over the Chapman Auditorium is starting to fall apart.
The problem is the money to repair the roof is limited – The County has agreed to spend 67 thousand dollars in addition to a 50 thousand dollar historic preservation grant the county received for the work.
The board will also hold a public hearing on Tuesday on updates to its sea turtle lighting ordinance which limits the types of lights that can be used along Franklin County's beaches.
The ordinance was created in 1998 and needs to be updated to reflect changes in lighting technology among other things.
In the afternoon the county commission will meet in executive session with the county attorney to discuss an ongoing lawsuit with the St. Joe Company.
Afterward the board will interview the three finalists for the County Coordinator’s position.
The candidates to replace Alan Pierce when he retires in September are Michael Moron and David Sutton from Apalachicola and Beckye Simpson from Carrabelle.
County commission meetings are open to the public – tomorrow’s meeting begins at 9 AM at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
