FWC to meet April 14-16 in Tallahassee
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will meet April 14-16 in Tallahassee at Florida A&M University’s Alfred Lawson Jr. Multipurpose Center, 1800 Wahnish Way, Tallahassee, FL 32307. Attendees need to display a parking pass in their vehicle. For a map and link to the parking passgo to MyFWC.com/Commission and select “Commission Meetings” then “agenda.”

The half-day session Tuesday, April 14, starts at 1:30 p.m. and focuses on strategic discussion and staff reports, as well as guest speaker Shane Mahoney discussing the role and scope of wildlife conservation. This session is open to members of the public who want to attend.

The sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, April 15 and 16, both start at 8:30 a.m. The public is invited and will be provided opportunities to speak during these two days. Public comment is reserved for Wednesday and Thursday.

Highlights of the April 15 agenda are:

■ Discussions on possible bear-management changes including proposed new rules for a limited bear hunting season.

■ A South Atlantic Fishery Management Council report.

■ Possible amendment of restricted species endorsements for commercial harvest of certain saltwater species.

Highlights of the third-day’s agenda include:

■ A Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council report.

■ Discussion of modifications to the Gulf red snapper recreational season.

■ Discussion of Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council modifications to stone crab trap gear specifications.
