S. Fish and Wildlife Service at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, speaking on
"The Civilian Conservation Corps; Going to Work Building for the
Future" Gail will begin with some background on forming the CCC and
then go into the CCC in Florida in general and specifically camps in this area
including the camp that worked on St. Marks Refuge which will also include
early background on the refuge.

misfortune of watching her home state disappear under asphalt, concrete and
sod. She has had an interest in natural history and is committed to
protecting the plants, animals, and other aspects of nature and history that
have no voice. She has worked for Florida Defenders of the Environment,
The Nature Conservancy, and The National Audubon Society. She is author
of Journeys Through Paradise; Pioneering Naturalists in the Southeast,
an essay in Between Two Rivers, as well as magazine
articles. Gail has an abiding interest in the history of natural history
and the culture and history of the southeastern United States.
