NOAA Fisheries
is looking for public comments on proposed changes to the red snapper quotas in
the Gulf of Mexico.
The federal agency is considering
a proposal to increase the red snapper quota by nearly 3.3 million pounds to a
total 14.3 million pounds.
If the increase is approved, the
commercial quota for red snapper will increase to about 7.3 million pounds when
the season starts on June 1st.
The recreational quota would
increase to just over 7 million pounds.
NOAA Fisheries will accept public
comments on the plan through April the 16th.
