The Florida State University Coastal & Marine Lab Conservation Lecture Series COMING TO PASS: FLORIDA'S COASTAL ISLANDS IN A GULF OF CHANGE Photo by David Moynahan A Presentation by writer SUSAN CERULEAN Susan Cerulean will share stories and images from her new book, Coming to Pass.  For more than three decades, Cerulean has kayaked, hiked, scalloped, fished and counted birds on and around Dog, the St. Georges, and St Vincent islands. Like most people, she didn't know how the islands had come to be, nor understand the large-scale change coming to the coast. Both a field guide to a beloved and impermanent Florida landscape and a call for its protection, this nature memoir chronicles our uniquely beautiful northern Gulf coast as it is now, as it once was, and how it may be as sea level rises.  Coming to Pass is available for purchase. She has written and advocated on behalf of Florida and its wildlife since 1981. In March 2009, she was honored by Tallahassee Community College as one of the "Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet." Her nature memoir Tracking Desire: A Journey after Swallow-tailed Kites was named an Editors' Choice title by Audubon magazine.  She has written and edited many other works, includingUnspOILed: Writers Speak for Florida's Coast, published in 2010.
