Gulf World Marine Institute (GWMI) has successfully rehabilitated two sea turtles. “Wishbone” is a sub adult Loggerhead sea turtle that has been at GWMI now for several months. She arrived severely emaciated and anemic. She has been staying at GWMI gaining weight and receiving iron supplements to help restore her red blood cells. In November and December of 2014, GWMI received 73 cold stunned endangered Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles from New England. The majority of those animals have already been released, but two are still being treated at GWMI for pneumonia or bone infections. One of these turtles is now medically cleared and will be released along with “Wishbone” on Wednesday, May 6th at St. George Island State Park at 12:00 EST
