Carrabelle man critically injured in accident east of Lanark Village
A Carrabelle man was critically injured Tuesday after driving into the path of a semi truck and trailer.
24 year old James Massey received critical injuries after his 2005 Ford Taurus collided with a semi truck on Highway 98 east of Lanark Village.
The highway patrol said Mr. Massey was traveling west on Highway 98 at about 3:30 Tuesday afternoon when he crossed the centerline and entered the eastbound lane.
His front left bumper collided with the front left bumper of an eastbound Volvo D-13 semi truck driven by Joseph Lloyd of Tallahassee.
After impact the Taurus continued to travel west crossing back over the centerline and into the westbound lane until it came to rest on the shoulder of the road.
The semi also traveled into the westbound lane until it came to rest on the shoulder of the road with its trailer blocking the westbound lane.
Mr. Massey was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for serious injuries.
The two men in the semi were uninjured.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, Carrabelle Police Department, Transfield Services and Florida Department of Environmental Protection at the scene.
