Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf Rates Among Florida’s Best for Patient Experience

PORT ST. JOE, FLA. (August 3, 2015) – In the most recent quarterly report from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf in Port St. Joe has maintained its 5-Star Hospital Rating. Based on results from the nation’s only standardized patient satisfaction survey, CMS utilizes star ratings to make it easier for consumers to choose a hospital and understand the quality of care it delivers.

The HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey is a publicly reported survey to measure patients’ perceptions of their hospital experience. The survey presents patients with questions based on 11 measures and includes topics such as how well nurses and doctors communicate with patients; how responsive hospital staff are to patient needs; how clean and quiet hospital environments are; and how well patients are prepared for post-hospital settings.

Additionally, Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast received a 5 Star rating. Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf  and Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast are two of only 10 hospitals in the state of Florida to receive this prestigious 5 Star HCAHPS Rating.

In April 2015, CMS added HCAHPS Star Ratings to the Hospital Compare website. HCAHPS Star Ratings are updated quarterly and summarize the results for each HCAHPS measure and present it in a star rating format, making it easier to use the information and highlight excellence in healthcare quality. The most recent quarterly ratings reflect data for the reporting period from October 2013 to the end of September 2014.
