The
state of Florida is now taking public comments on the draft of the Florida Imperiled Species
Management Plan.
The plan combines managing the
specific needs of 57 imperiled species across the state with a new,
larger-scale strategy addressing how to help multiple fish and wildlife species
thrive in the habitats they share.
17 of the species can be found in
our area including the American Oystercatcher, Black Skimmer and Wakulla
Seaside Sparrow along with the Alligator Snapping turtle, Florida Pine Snake
and the Gopher frog.
The FWC designed the plan to make
more efficient use of its resources - The FWC first approved this new
conservation model in 2010.
The public is invited to read and
comment on the draft of the plan, with the
opportunity to provide feedback over the next 60 days.
