Duke Energy Florida
customers will see a small drop in what they pay for electricity beginning next
year.
The Florida’s Public Service Commission last week set recovery
charges which will take effect in January 2016.
Under the new fuel charges, Duke Energy
Florida residential customers will see their bills fall from $121.59 to $114.15 for 1000 kilowatt hours of electricity.
Gulf Power customers will see a cut from
nearly 140 dollars to just under 136 dollars for 1000 kilowatt hours of electricity.
Every year the Florida Public
Service Commission has to decide how much of the cost each of Florida’s power
companies can recovery on fuel and purchased power, capacity, conservation, and
environmental requirements.
Utilities cannot make a profit
on fuel charges.
