Florida Wild Mammal Association needs room to grow

The Florida Wild Mammal Association is seeking acreage for a new home.

The Florida Wild Mammal Association is a nonprofit group dedicated to the rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife with the goal of returning them to their natural habitat.

It services 4 counties - including Wakulla, Jefferson, Franklin, and Taylor.

In 2015 it treated over 900 wildlife patients.

The group has a center located on 6.5 acres of private property owned by the Beatty family but has run out of space and adequate facilities.

The group has been actively fundraising to build a new modernized medical building and it has become imperative that they construct this building as soon as possible.

They must obtain land to build the new medical building before April 2016 - April is their busiest time of the year and they usually see an influx of orphaned baby animals during that time.

The Wild Mammal Association is hoping to receive a donation of land, funds towards the project, or a long term, 25 year lease with minimal rent.

The ideal property would be located in Wakulla County and should be large enough to separate the rehabilitation center (where the public is not permitted) from the wildlife education center (which allows public access).

It must be zoned agricultural or rural and should be suitable for zoning as a wildlife hospital.

You can get more information at their website at FWMA.org.
