A
falling hangar door at the Apalachicola airport just missed crushing an
airplane and county officials say it could have done much worse.
The incident happened on December
30th.
Alan Pierce told county
commissioners this week that a 3000 pound hangar door on one of the county’s
rental hangars came loose after a cable raising the door snapped.
The door crashed to the ground,
just missing a private plane that was being taken from the hangar.
No one was injured in the
incident.
County officials say they will
replace the door with one that does not require cables so this doesn’t happen
again.
