A Crawfordville
man was indicted Tuesday on charges of first degree murder stemming from a
shooting in January.
52-year-old Walter McCoy Porter
Sr. was indicted on one count of first degree murder and two counts of
possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The charges stem from a January
19 incident during which an argument turned violent and 49-year-old Michael
Scott Lawrence was shot twice and died.
Investigators recovered the rifle
used in the shooting at the scene.
Porter fled the scene but turned
himself in two days later.
Porter was originally charged
with second degree murder but the grand jury found enough evidence to increase
the charge to 1st degree murder.
