FLOOD WARNING ADVISORY

The Nation Weather Service has extended its Flood Warning until further notice.
 
The Flood Warning continues for the Ochlockonee River near Havana (US 27). * Until further notice. * At
 9:15 AM Tuesday the stage was 29.9 feet. * Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast. * Flood stage is 26.0 feet. * Forecast: The river will continue to fall to a stage of 28.6 feet by Wednesday morning. * Impact: At 31.0 feet: Iron Bridge Road (CR-153) in Gadsden County is prone to flooding just north of the river crossing. Residences several miles downstream of the gage site near US-90 on the Leon County side will have water in their backyards.

C.H. Corn Hydroelectric Facility, as of
 9:30 am 04/05/16, has 3 gates open at 100% and releasing 18,500 cfs. Calculations indicate the high probability of flooding in Franklin County along Crooked River, New River, Ochlockonee River, Rio Vista, and Hickory Hammock Areas.

Anyone who has campers along these areas should closely monitor the situation and make the necessary arrangements to protect life, safety, and property.

If you live directly along the water’s edge, or if your home is subject to flooding due to river flooding along these rivers:

• Be extremely vigilant during the next couple of days as the water starts to flow down the river.
 
• A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on the current forecast.
• Residents in and near the area should continue to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings.
 
• Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
